The 2025-2026 Dream with Us Design Challenge invites middle school students to innovate within the agricultural sector by integrating uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) into farming practices. As agriculture faces pressing challenges such as climate change, pest management, and production efficiency, the need for technological adaptation becomes critical. This initiative not only emphasizes the importance of agriculture in sustaining communities but also encourages young minds to explore how drone technology can enhance crop monitoring, improve harvest capabilities, and bolster resilience against environmental stressors. By engaging students in this challenge, NASA aims to foster a new generation of thinkers who can contribute to the future of sustainable agriculture through innovative solutions. The challenge requires teams of 2-4 students to conceptualize and present a drone design tailored to specific agricultural needs, culminating in a presentation for NASA experts. Participants will also create educational materials to inspire younger students about the role of drones in agriculture. This dual focus on technical design and creative outreach underscores the importance of interdisciplinary learning in STEM education. Winning teams will not only gain recognition but also have the opportunity to interact with NASA professionals, highlighting the practical implications of their designs and the potential for real-world applications in the agricultural industry. This initiative serves as a vital platform for students to engage with cutting-edge technology while addressing critical global challenges.
